Tips for creating a successful hashtag
Before showing you how to insert a hashtag on major social networks, I want to give you some tips on how to create a successful hashtag: these are simple rules that, if followed, can greatly improve the way you communicate on social networks. Let me be clear, there is no perfect hashtag: the choice of "labels" to be used on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and other social networks must be made by weighing each time the purpose you want to achieve, but some advice to take the road right in that sense I can give it to you. So far all clear? Well then I would say we can proceed!
Use a hashtag relevant to the posted content
One of the first tips I give you is use a hashtag relevant to the post you want to share. By following this simple trick you will avoid creating confusion in the heads of your followers and those who are interested in the post and, at the same time, you will be more likely to create a unique and easy to remember hashtag. Are you wondering how to put this tip into practice? I'll show you immediately with an example.
Let's say you need to create the official hashtag of an event you hold annually, such as a training course or a fair for vintage items enthusiasts; the ideal would be to create a hashtag that uniquely describes the event in question, so as to allow users to recognize it immediately and remember it more easily. In this specific case, you could for example create one of the type #meeventoanno o #nomeluogoeventyear (Eg. # configurehowday2018, # configurehowdaymilano2018, Etc.).
All those interested in attending the event will be able to use the hashtag in question to search for information and posts you have published about it and, if they decide to participate, they will be able to use the official hashtag you created to post the photos taken during the event. event itself: a clever way to advertise yourself (for free!). In case you have forgotten it, this is exactly the purpose for which to use hashtags on social networks: to facilitate the retrieval of content. Never forget it!
Use a short hashtag
Use a short hashtag it is another important precaution that I recommend you to adopt, since it allows users to remember it more easily. If you used a kilometer-long hashtag, in fact, you would make your posts less readable and you would risk “tiring” users: this is not the result you want to achieve, is it?
So try to be concise by using hashtags that don't exceed 20-25 characters. If you really want to "go over" and use a hashtag a little longer than usual, at least try to make it as readable as possible. For example, you could use capital letters for the initials of each word in the label (ex. # configurehowDayMilano2018).
Use the same hashtag on multiple channels
If you use multiple social networks, don't make the mistake of changing hashtags on each one - it's much better use the same hashtag on multiple channels. For what reason? In this way you will not interrupt the flow of the story and your followers will have no difficulty in searching for posts related to a particular hashtag, whether they search for them on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or any other social network you use.
Use hashtags on major social networks
After seeing some practical tips on creating an effective hashtag, it's time to move from theory to practice and see how use hashtags on the main social networks: Facebook, Instagram e Twitter. In short, to use the hashtags in question you simply have to prepend the symbol (#) to the word that, based on the advice I gave you in the previous chapter, you chose to use as the "label" of your posts, remembering that you can use letters and numbers for this purpose, but not punctuation marks and special characters (eg. %, €, $, Etc.).
To use hashtags on Facebook, log in to your account, press the text field What are you thinking about? and write the sentence you want to insert in the post you want to publish. Then find the place to insert the hashtag - you can put it at the beginning, at the end or, if the phrase is suitable, embed it in a more "natural" way inside the post - and Share the content by pressing the appropriate publication button.
For example, if you want to post a post letting your friends know that you are cold because winter has started, you can use the hashtag #winter as in the following examples: "Today the # winter has begun: how cold !!!"Or"- 2 degrees: how cold #winter".
If you want to learn more, take a look at the guide where I explain in more detail how to use hashtags on Facebook to "tag" your posts and to search for those published by other users.
To insert hashtags in a post from Instagram, start the official app of the social network on your smartphone, log in to your account (if you have not already done so) and tap the button capacitor positive (+) lead located in the center of the screen (bottom). Then, press on thepreview of the content you want to post (if you want, you can also take a new one photo or register a new one video), tap on the item NEXT located at the top right and once again presses up NEXT.
Finally, complete your post by typing in the field Write a caption ... the hashtags you want to use: then click on the symbol # on the keyboard and type the word or phrase with which you want to label your post, in the place you prefer. As you can see, by typing a hashtag, Instagram will provide you with information about the number of posts in which this has already been inserted, which can be useful to make you understand its degree of popularity and uniqueness. When you have completed the creation of the caption of your post, press on the item OK (located at the top right) and then up Share.
Ah… I almost forgot! Instagram allows you to insert hashtags even in Stories: to do this, press the symbol of thelittle man located at the bottom right, presses on capacitor positive (+) lead placed on yours profilo's photo and, after choosing the content to be included in the Story, presses on the symbol ofsmiling sticker, tap on the sticker #HASHTAG, write the sentence related to the hashtag you want to use and tap on the item end.
Now you just have to place the sticker in the place you prefer, press the button (+) Your story (bottom left) and that's it. Users who view the History will be able to press on the hashtag to see the contents related to the latter. Interesting, right?

Users of Twitter frequently use hashtags (not surprisingly they have become known to the public thanks to the popular microblogging platform) and, when one of these becomes very popular, it ends up in trends (the section that is visible from the Twitter Home Page, in the left sidebar), making Twitter an exceptional tool to stay updated on the hottest topics of the moment.
To insert one or more hashtags in a tweet, log in to your Twitter account, press the icon of pen (from smartphones and tablets) or on the button Tweet (from PC), write the text of the message in the field What's new - taking into account the limit of 280 characters present on the social network - and enter the tweet you have decided to use: press the symbol (#) from the keyboard, type the word with which you want to tag the tweet in the place you prefer and publish it using the appropriate button. Easier than that ?!
