OBS (Windows / macOS / Linux)
The first among the useful screen recording software that I want to invite you to consider is OBS: it is an open source program that allows you to make PC screen recordings, capture audio / video streams from external sources and broadcast video in streaming. It's free, simple enough to use, and is compatible with Windows, macOS, and Linux.
To download it to your computer, go to its official website, select the operating system logo you use on your PC and click the button Download Installer which appears at the bottom right.

Then, press the button again Next, by your complaint install and finally, su Finish. If, during setup, a warning appears indicating that you also need to install Visual C ++, you agree to this: it is a free component, produced by Microsoft, essential for the correct functioning of the program.

Therefore, type the Password of your user account on macOS, click on the button Close and, finally, about that Move. Then start the program using the Launchpad or using Spotlight, Crab or, again, by opening the folder Applications.
Now that you see the main OBS window on your screen, follow the quick setup wizard that is offered to you. Next, click on the button Settings located at the bottom right, select the item Exit from the left sidebar, check the box next to the wording Enable advanced encoding settings and select the format and bitrate you want to use for your recordings from the drop-down menu Registration form.
Then click on the button Shop by Department located in correspondence with the wording Registration path and indicate the folder where you want the recordings to be saved. Then save the changes made by clicking on the buttons Apply e OK.
After setting the program correctly, go to the main window of the same and indicate from which sources you want to register. To do this, click on the button [+] placed at the section References, select the voice Capture the screen give the menu if you want to win your bottone OK per due turn consecutive.
Do you want to capture only the window of a given application? If so, select the option Capture window. If, on the other hand, you want to record only the window of a software running in full screen, choose the option Capture window in full screen.
Later, if necessary, move / resize the selection rectangle relative to the resumption of the screen present in the central part of the OBS window, set the volume of the audio to be captured using the adjustment bars located in the lower center and press the button Start recording.
When you deem it appropriate, you can stop the registration by clicking on the button Stop recording located at the bottom right. The resulting video file will be automatically saved in the folder previously indicated in the software settings.

Screencast-o-Matic (Windows / macOS)
Another great tool that I invite you to consider for recording your computer screen is Screencast-o-Matic. It is not really a software, this must be said: it is, in fact, an online service that allows you to create desktop recordings after downloading and installing a special application, available for Windows and macOS. It's free, but it allows you to make recordings up to 15 minutes long, watermark your movies and capture only the audio of the microphone without including that of the PC. To get around these limitations, you need to subscribe to a paid plan (with costs starting at $ 1,50 / month).
To use Screencast-o-Matic, visit the website of the service and click on the button Start recording for free. In the new page that is shown to you, make sure that thecityno in the drop-down menu on the left (if not, you can do it yourself), then press the button Launch Free Recorder and on the link Download launcher to download the application needed to run Screencast-o-Matic.
When the download is complete, if you are using Windows, april il .exe file obtained and, in the window that appears on the desktop, click on the button Yes. At this point, if it is your intention to record all or part of the PC screen, click on the button Screen and define the area of the desktop of your interest by adjusting the appropriate selection rectangle. If you want to include the webcam recording as well, click on the button webcam and place the relevant box in the spot on the screen that suits you best. To enable both functions, click on the button Both. To define the resolution and choose whether or not to activate the microphone, select the items respectively Sizes e Storytelling.
After setting up Screencast-o-Matic, start recording by clicking the button Rec. Later, you can stop it by clicking on the buttons Pause e Done. Then, use the editor that is shown to add, if you wish, texts and music to the obtained video and save the resulting video file by clicking on the button indicating its duration and then choosing the location to copy it to.
Programs to record with webcam

ManyCam (Windows / macOS)
The first of the webcam recording programs I suggest you consider is ManyCam: it is a software for Windows and macOS that allows you to take advantage of the webcam to make direct streaming, record videos during video conferences and much more. It is free but with some limitations, including the inability to record in high resolution. Also, apply a watermark on the videos. By subscribing, on the other hand, to one of the paid plans available (with costs starting from 27 dollars / year) it is possible to unlock all the program functions and remove the logo imprinted on the movies.
To download ManyCam on your computer, go to the software website, click on the button Download ManyCam and then press the button Download Now.

Subsequently, you will find yourself in front of the main window of the program. In the box on the left there is what is taken by the webcam, while on the sidebar on the right there are the controls to change the resolution, zoom, colors and other parameters of the recovery.
To start recording, click on the icon video camera placed at the bottom. Then press the same button again, when you want to stop it. To create live streams on Facebook, YouTube and other services, instead, click on theAntenna. If you are interested in this, I would like to point out that you can also take pictures of yourself by clicking on the button with the camera.
While recording with the webcam, you can also add effects and stickers to the video. To do this, click the button with the Magic wand on the right and select one of the available effects. If in doing so you see a warning appearing that it is necessary to download an additional module for face recognition, please agree to this.
Photo Booth (macOS)
Stai using a Mac? In that case, I am happy to inform you that you can record with the webcam without installing external software. In fact, you can do everything using Photo booth, the application already included in MacOS for capturing video via webcam. It is very easy to use and allows you to record movies while applying fun special effects. Note that, if necessary, the application can also be used to take pictures.
To use it, call Photo Booth using the Launchpad or, alternatively, through Spotlight, Crab or dalla cartella Applications of macOS. Once the program window is displayed, click on the icon of cinematographic film located at the bottom left and start recording by pressing on red button with camera which is located in the lower center. When you want, you can stop recording by clicking on the button Stop, always located in the lower center.
Once the recording is stopped, the relevant file will be saved directly in the folder Images> Photo Booth Library of the Mac. Eventually, however, you can export it to any path by dragging the thumbnail of the video at the bottom of the application window out of it and dropping it in the position you prefer.
Note, then, that before starting the recording with the webcam, you can set the use of an effect by clicking on the button Effects located at the bottom right and choosing the one you prefer by clicking on it.
Also, if you want to take advantage of the function to take photos, click on the icon with the square (to make a "normal" photo) or on the one with the square divided into four sections (to make an image with four shots) and then press the button with the photographic macchinetta that you find in the lower center.
Programs to record voice and music
We come now to programs to record voice and music: there are both for Windows and for macOS and Linux. I'm sure the ones listed below will suit your needs.
Audacity (Windows / macOS / Linux)
Audacity it is considered, with good reason, the best free audio editor, as well as open source. In fact, it allows you to create, cut, merge and edit any type of audio track quickly and easily, thanks to a series of customizable filters that have little to envy to those found in the most celebrated paid solutions. Among its many functions, there is also the one that allows you to record the audio coming from the microphone or the sounds, voices and songs that pass through the PC sound card. It is available for Windows, macOS and Linux.
To download Audacity on your computer, go to the download web page of the program on Sourceforge and click your bottone Download.
Download completed if you are using Windows, april il .exe file obtained and, in the window that is shown to you on the desktop, click on the buttons Yes, OK, NEXT (four times in a row) e Install, then finish the setup by pressing the button once again NEXT and on that end. If you see a window appear relating to the installation of some Pluginclick on your bottone OK to agree to the thing.

Then press the button apri in response to the warning that appears on the screen, in order to run the program going to circumvent Apple's limitations towards applications from non-certified developers (an operation that must be performed only at the first start).
Now that, regardless of the operating system, you see the main Audacity window on your screen, click the button OK and it also starts recording the audio by pressing the button Rec which is at the top. To stop recording, however, click on the button Stop (always placed at the top of the window).
The track of the recording will be visible in the central part of the window, while on the left you will find the information relating to the track and the commands to manage the sound. At the bottom, however, there are the controls to adjust the frequency and set the start and end points of any selection.
If you deem it necessary, I would like to point out that you can also use the menus and related options that you find in the toolbar at the top to apply various effects, generate silences, noises, etc. Below the menus you will find the buttons and controls to manage audio playback and to perform basic editing operations.
After making all the necessary changes, you can save your audio recording by clicking on the menu Fillet located at the top left, by selecting the option Export audio (or that Export selected audio, to export a specific selection), assigning a name to the file, choosing the output format and pressing the buttons Save e OK.
Note that, natively, the program is not able to export audio files in the MP3. GoldWave is an all-in-one audio editing software with which you can record songs, edit existing music tracks and even digitize vinyls into MP3 files. It supports all major audio file formats, is fairly simple to use and is for Windows. Unfortunately it is not free (the lifetime license costs $ 45, while the annual license costs $ 15), but it can be downloaded as a free trial version that works without limitations for 30 days.
To download the program on your PC, go to its website and click on the button Download GoldWave vx.xx that you find at the top.
Once the download is complete, open the .exe file obtained and, in the window that appears on the desktop, click on the button Yes. Then, click on the button NEXT twice and on that end to conclude the setup. Then click on the button OK.
Now, start the program by double clicking on the relevant one collegamento present on the desktop or call it from the Start menu and, in the window of the same that is shown on the screen, press the button New located at the top, so that audio recording starts.
In the center of the window you will find the path of the file. Using the buttons located on the toolbar at the top you can, if necessary, make any changes to it by adding various effects, intervening on the noise, on the audio level etc. In the window on the right, however, there are controls for playback and volume balance.
When you see fit, you can save the audio file by clicking on the menu Fillet at the top left, by selecting the item Save As from the latter (or on that Save Selection As, to save a specific selection) and indicating the location and format of the output. Easy, right?
Stai using MacOS? In that case, you have another great program on your side for recording voice and music: GarageBand. Haven't you ever heard of it? No problem, let's fix it immediately: this is an application developed directly by Apple for its users that allows you to create musical compositions with various instruments, effects and tracks as well as to record all kinds of audio sources. The program is pre-installed on all Macs, but if removed it can be downloaded for free from the Mac App Store.
To use it, first start it by calling it up via the Launchpad, through Spotlight, Crab or dalla cartella Applications on your Mac and, once its main window is displayed, select the icon Empty project and click your bottone Choose. Next, indicate the type of track you want to make and press the button Crea.
At this point, click on your button Rec located at the top, to start a new recording. Instead, press the button Stop to stop it. The track of the audio file will then be visible in the central part of the program window.
To make changes to the recording, use the various tools and functions attached to the editor. On the left you will find the library of sounds and instruments, while at the top there are the instruments with which to mix the songs and the buttons that allow you to perform various operations: adjust the rhythm, activate the metronome, forward or reverse playback, etc. Additional functions are available in the menu bar.
To export your registration, click on the menu Share, select the option Export track to disc from the latter, name the file, indicate the output format and quality, and specify the location on your Mac where you want to save the file.

To conclude, I want to point out some app to record from smartphones and tablets. Below, therefore, you will find listed the best applications to record the screen of your devices, create audio clips, music recordings and shoot videos. Have fun!
- Caustic 3 (Android / iOS) - renowned music production app that includes a large set of tools to compose electronic music in a simple and fun way. For Android the download is free, but to save and export the songs (in WAV, OGG or MIDI) you need to buy the Caustic Unlock Key, which costs 6,99 euros. For iOS, however, the application costs 10,99 euros directly
- KineMaster (Android / iOS) - app that allows you to record and edit videos using various tools and pre-established templates, all directly from the screen of your mobile device. It's free, but offers in-app purchases (starting at € 2,29) to unlock additional features.
- AZ Screen Recorder (Android) - totally free application for Android that allows you to record what happens on the screen of your smartphone or tablet. It does not apply time limits, does not imprint watermarks and also supports QHD resolution.
- Mobizen Screen Recorder (Android) - app that allows you to create videos of the smartphone or tablet screen with a maximum resolution of 1080p. It has no time limits and includes a handy editor. It also allows you to shoot with the front camera of the device by including your face in the recordings. The only downside is that it stamps a watermark on recorded footage. It's free, but offers in-app purchases (starting at 89 cents) to unlock additional features.
- Voice recorder (Android) - simple free app for Android devices that allows you to record any type of audio using the microphone of your smartphone or tablet.
- Clips (iOS) - app developed by Apple for iOS that allows you to record videos quickly and easily, adding effects, stickers, writings, etc. Free.
- GarageBand (iOS) - is the mobile counterpart for iOS devices of the software I told you about in the previous lines for what concerns audio recording. It offers most of the features of the Mac program and is free.
- Screen recording (iOS) - more than an app, this is a feature included in iOS, starting with version 11 of the platform. Allows you to record the screen (including audio but not microphone capture).
